I am very new to this forum so if I posted in the wrong category please move my post. Here is my question: I am hoping to get into a good school. I spent freshman year with a fairly lax attitude. My grades were English Honors: B/B French 2 Regular B/B Advanced Algebra Honors B/B World History Honors B/B PE A/A Elective A/A Biology Honors B/C. This year my projected first semesters are Chem Honors B, Precalc Honors B, English Honors B, Health A, English Honors B, French 3 Regular B, Elective (honors credit) A, World Religions Honors B. I have no in school extra curriculars but I work almost full time, volunteer at a youth tennis training program, and assist at teaching young children russian language, and i got a 1440 (800 on english 640 on math) on sat freshman year. I realize that right now my college application is looking far from great. What Could I do to improve my college application and what type of college could i hope for. I am hoping people with some experience at the college applying process will help me out. As an 8th grader I did a philosophy program at northwestern that went on my transcript and this summer went on a Government sponsored trip to Europe that also went on my transcript. Also I am a white male Russian Immigrant in Suburb of chicago.
thank so much in advance.

A. You scored pretty well on the old SAT I. Keep that up and you can score well on the new SAT.

B. If you're a Russian immigrant, then you're first generation. That means you're not a slacker. If you are determined, you can easily pick up the pace.

early bump....rele hoping for some help

I agree with fabrizio - no secret here: just keep up the hard work, get good grades, and take at least 4 years of English, math, language, science with as many honors or AP classes as possible and you'll be pretty set. Don't forget to take the SAT II subject exams as you complete relevant classes. Good luck!
