Help for Learning Disabled Students?

All of the UCs SAY they have services, but does anyone have any first-hand experience with UC Santa Cruz? If so, good, bad, indifferent, ugly?

I have HDHD. I went to the Disabled Learning Resource Center and they gave me a free note taker and extra time on my exams. It was easy.

The time on exams is really helpful for math since I always end up doing about 4 problems at once.

I assume extended time, note taking, audio books, and the usual assortment of accommodations are not too difficult to get. If anyone has used MSI (Modified Supplemental Instruction) and/or received tutoring, I’d appreciate hearing about your experience. How helpful was it? Was it easy to arrange? Was it enough to overcome the challenge of the large class size for introductory Math and Science courses?

MSI is very helpful. Small groups of students (no more than 10) being helped by a student who previously took the course and received a B or higher. They’re required to attend lecture along with you so they’re always quite on top of the material. MSI has weekly times that are set up based on the availability of interested students. I’ve never had a bad MSI tutor, and I definitely think they’ve significantly raised my performance in the classes they helped me with.
