help from accepted/waitlisted/rejected students!

I'm going to be a senior in HS this year, and I am planning on applying to Kenyon in the fall. I am curious about Kenyon's selectivity, ie. who gets in and who doesn't, so if you were accepted, waitlisted or rejected from kenyon, can you post your high school stats (boards, gpa, ECs, etc.) so that I can get a feel for my chances? Thanks so much!

Decision: Accepted (International RD-Nepal) with good financial aid.

-Work Experience of a journalist in the English National Daily of my country during the gap year after high school.
-A highly appreciated personal statement.
-Interest in the College...( I THINK the adcoms at Kenyon highly seek this particular factor in their applicants which you can often exhibit with visits and constant contact with their representatives in your area.)

Best of Luck with your apps..

Your excellent credentials need proper backing up and Kenyon seems to value your interest in the college.
-cheating the format from blip while writing these stats info, lol

The main things that got me in were my service to the community and my supplemental essays. The adcom actually mentioned it in my acceptance letter itself that my enthusiasm to serve others selflessly had been well recognized by the adcom.
Hope this helps.
Feel free to IM me if there’s anything else.
Hope this helped.

Honestly, I have no idea what Kenyon is looking for. Unlike some others, I didn't visit campus nor have an interview, and I live 4 miles away.

great recommendations (because they let me write my own. I love my high school english teacher.)
personal statement - after working in admissions at kenyon for two years, let me tell you that the most important part of your application are those supplimental questions and statements. Kenyon does want you to be smart, yes, but they are looking for more than just smarts. They are looking for a certain TYPE of smart. Someone who has a genuine passion for learning that goes beyond grades. Someone who is extremely committed to what they love, but doesn't sweat the small stuff. For instance - I got a C in every single science I took in high school. I got A's in everything else, but i always got a C in science. So i explained in my essay that the reason i did poorly was because i would rather spend my time on something I knew I loved and wanted to do rather than worry over a bad grade in an area that I had no interest in. This is what I mean by a type of smart. Kenyon is an extremely small community filled with lots of extremely bright students. You can't be the kid who sits shyly in the corner and gets straight A's. Professors here will eat that kid for breakfast. You have to be willing to defend yourself and what you wrote. You can't be afraid of your brilliance. The brainiacs go to Harvard. The passionate ones come here.
