Hey Everyone,
I am a homeschooled junior from California. During 9-10th grades, I was in a public school, where I had a low GPA for Ivy League schools (had 4 B’s and a C on my transcript). Currently, I have a 4.0 in my dual enrollment courses, and my SAT score is 1600. I am wondering if there is a way to leave my public school grades out of my transcript, or not send them in somehow. I believe I have a great shot at all schools without those grades. My EC’s and letter of rec’s are great as of now, so that is not a concern.
The schools I am currently aiming for are HYSPM level.
Thank you for all your help.
I am an independent college counselor who has worked with a number of non-traditional students such as yourself. Here’s the quick answer:
No, you may not leave those transcripts out for several reasons, but mostly because colleges trust that you will share all transcripts with them, and should they find out you suppressed the truth after you’ve gotten in and enrolled, they will basically boot you out. Not worth the risk. At. All.

The better way to go is to be honest, explain the low grades straight-forwardly (that is, without making excuses), and have a good range of colleges to which will apply. It’s fine to reach high, but you’ll have to build a very strong case, so please have match and safety schools on your list and not just reachy-reach schools.
