Can you use some of your current work earnings to pay CSS Profile fees for at least a few of the colleges on your list?

So you have applied to the schools but can’t afford to apply for financial aid because of the $25 fee? When will you be 18 to get your money? You may have to wait until that day, and if it is too late, wait for another year and re-apply.
Most colleges waive the CSS profile fee- and will refer you to the college board (vicious circle). Call the financial aid office to find out their policy for waiving the fee or to see if there is another way that you can submit the information.
I’m missing the part where a family on public assistance (whether or not their bank accounts are frozen) can afford to send a kid to the US for college. OP- even with a very generous award you will need transportation, food during vacation periods when the cafeteria is closed, books and lab fees. Are you sure that the $25 fee is your main problem here?
And most of these generous colleges also require a student contribution…that can be several thousand dollars.
The thread asks for colleges which do not require an CSS, but an ISFAA. Not to bash someone’s dream of going to college.
There is a magical thing named federal loans of which I can receive 18000 dollars a year, get 6000 dollars for free (tax) and don’t have to pay interest for. It’s a loan which we have forty years to pay back and we can take it abroad with us. My government also gives money for transportation and I am working thirty hours a week at a family friend. He’s freezing the money on a seperate bank account now, but I’ll receive $30.000 dollars by May.
I’m also applying to some more affordable colleges (20k a year) for which I only have to receive a small scholarship, which I certainly will.
It’s funny how it’s ununderstandable for some well-off people that even a less fortunate person really wants to go to college and sometimes has to think of other ways to afford it. It’s a shame I can’t delete this thread.
Most low income students in the US commute to a college close to home (if they can manage to get the funds together to go at all). They don’t get to attend a residential college or go out of state for school. Going to college in another country, even just for a semester abroad, isn’t even on the table. It sounds like your home country has options for students who want to attend college. Apply to colleges there and borrow as little as possible.
The OP seems to have all the info that’s needed. Closing thread.
