HELP! I have a quick question about my application!

Hi guys, I know that it's getting really close to submission time, so I've created this thread for you to ask quick questions that we can answer easily and (hopefully) not more than once. So, post away!

Here are some of the things I've seen recently:

I'm taking the SAT in November, will my scores get there in time for EA?
Yes they will. You don't need to rush them, either. If MIT is one of your free schools, they will definitely get there on time. But, if MIT is not one of your free schools, they most likely won't. So, make MIT one of your free schools. They only look at your best scores anyway.

Help, I filled in the wrong major / sport / test score / GPA / gender!
Take a deep breath. Relax. E-mail the admissions office. Take more deep breaths. Relax more. It will be OK.

*Help, my counselor form / teacher recs / test scores don't show up in the tracking system! *
MIT gets at TON of mail around this time. Your forms are probably sitting in a mail bin, waiting to be opened. Relax. The admissions office will eventually post an announcement that all the mail has been opened, which we will post here, and then you can start panicking again if your stuff isn't in.

So, ask any other questions you might have!

The question I don’t want to answer any more times:

Where should I send stuff to the admissions office?
The addresses of the admissions office (email and physical) are at the bottom of the admissions webpage.

Oh, of course:

I got a worse score on one SAT than on another SAT, should I send them all or only send the one I did well on?
It doesn’t matter. Like, at all. MIT will completely ignore the SAT that you did poorly on and look at the one that you did well on. Honestly.

I only got a 7xx, not an 800, on Math I / Math II / Physics / anything! Should I retake the SAT IIs?
No. A 7xx is virtually identical to an 800 from a statistical standpoint and in the eyes of the MIT adcoms. Go out and do something instead of retaking a standardized test!

For supplementary stuff (resume, greencard) I heard that the package you send had to have your name/school/and birthdate on top. However, the package I sent only had my name and my home address on it. This should not be a problem, right?

It just needs enough information to identify you. Having your home address should be sufficient, as long as nobody else with your name is applying from your house. :)
