Ok so I am new to this but i just need one answer questioned and FAST. I am a junior in high school and have been given an ultimatum. I want to take Spanish V and Journalism 2. The thing is they are both only fourth period classes. So I have to wither choose one or the other.
I am minoring in journalism and I am the photo editor. Meanwhile, many office jobs want people who can speak spanish. I have done four years and can hold a conversation. I LOVE both classes but don't know which I should do and which I should drop. How many years of spanish do I actually need? is taking a fifth year useful. PLEASE ANSWER AS SOON AS POSSIble. i am Very confused. Thank you.

If taking the journalism course is required to keep your position on the school paper, I would take that, because journalism is clearly one of your passions and you should stay involved in it. Otherwise, I think I would continue with Spanish; you might attain a level of skill that would allow you to meet the foreign language requirement in college (depending on the school) and/or qualify for advanced classes once you get there.

Agreed with the above advice. If you have to drop activities along with journalism, keep journalism. If not, keep doing Spanish.

It’s generally a good idea to attempt to have a foreign language course during each of your four years, as this will be most useful in becoming and remaining proficient in the language and will prepare you best for taking college-level language courses (or testing out of them).
