HELP! I'm going to die!!!!!

I'm a sophomore, and these are my grades so far!!!

Honors Chem: 85% (The class average is a 79%..so I'm OK)
Spanish II (Honors not offered): 95%
Honors World History: 95%
Honors English II: 97%
Geometry: 75%
Theology: 95%

I can't do the math..I'm so bad at it it's unbelievable. But it seems that if I get a 90% on my midterm that I'll finish the semester off with a B. But what if I don't?

Each class is a HUGE upward trend from last year..except for math :/

I will apply to...
CUNY, Stony Brook, UMass, University of New Hampshire, UConn, UPenn, and Cornell

I'll have great ECs, and next semester I'll have all As and next year I'll have all As as well..and senior year too.

I'm going for a degree in English Lit.

Am I screwed? Please help me!!!

You are really stressing out too much about this! Your grades are not bad. Just keep up the good work. You might want to get some extra help on math, but you’re not planning to be a math major. I wouldn’t recommend hanging out here. Don’t forget to enjoy life.

Thanks! I haven’t been on this site too much lately, which is good. I just had to ask this because once I saw that my grade went down to a 75%, I felt so empty inside, like my chances of getting into Ivy/comparable schools were diminished :/. It also doesn’t help too much that my teacher won’t give me extra credit or anything; I mean if I talk to her about raising my grade all she does is give me a look like “Oh, well you’re screwed.”

Seriously! I went in to talk to her during break today and I said
“Mrs -…I saw the grades that I got on the CE/Quiz…”
and she said
“Yeah, you didn’t do too well.”
and she continued working/writing stuff down, barely paying attention to me, and I said quietly:
“…Is there anything I can do…”
And she wasn’t paying attention, but after I sat there for a minute she finally looked up and said
“Can I help you?” with such an apathetic tone… and I said
“…Well…is there anything…anything I can do to raise it…I mean…this means a lot to me…all I need is a 77%, that’s it! Just a 77, because then it’ll average out to a B for the semester.”
and she said, after like 5 minutes
“Oh, well I’m sorry, but there’s nothing I can do to help you.”
and then I said
“Well, are you dropping the lowest quiz grade?”
and she said
“No.”

It’s just like what the hell! What does she expect me to do!? I’m not this stupid kid that doesn’t care or anything…I could see her saying that stuff to a student that doesn’t care, doesn’t do homework or anything…but me? WTH!!!

The best thing you can do is get a tutor. If money is an issue, you can talk to your guidance counselor or look to see if there are any free tutoring programs at your school (for example, at mine, the students in NHS frequently do free tutoring in almost every subject). Study hard, do as many practice problems as you can, make sure you understand everything, and do well on that midterm.

Are those grades weighted or unweighted? Nonetheless, your grades are not bad, but not necessarily good enough for UPenn (and perhaps Cornell, I haven’t looked too deeply into it yet though). Like the person above me said, study hard and get a tutor if you need it. Even just a few sessions (3-4) will do wonders for your grades!

wait your a sophomore…?? seriously you’ll be fine…just make sure your grades for Junior and first term Senior year are good as well as SATs and you’ll really be fine

quiksilver & julie- I set up a two hour appointment on saturday with a tutor! and julie, what if I get straight A’s in my junior+senior years? Will that make up for it if I do end up getting a C?
I know that I’m capable of more  I just get a bit lazy at times.

Wait, julie, answer this: if I DO get a C this semester, and next semester I rebound with a high A (I’ll have a tutor! :D), will I be ok for Penn/Cornell? :)

and thanks hopefule101!

you need to calm down.

I’m trying :S
