Help!@! I'm such an idiot.

Hey,

So I just took my SAT I test again (2nd time) on May 1st. I did really well on the writing.. missed less than 5 most likely. But I found out that I think I misinterpreted the essay question and will probably receive a 0.

I already sent my 1st scores to UF which were a composite of 17xx. The stupid thing is I know I can get nearly a perfect score on math and a composite of 1950+. But it was my first time and I screwed up. And the 2nd time.. even more of an idiot and misread the essay question.

So, since I already sent my scores from January and if I don't send my scores from May (to UF) and take the test again in June, and then in October and send those two will UF only see that I took the SAT 3 times? I don't want them to see I took it 4.

And if they do see that its 4 then I will just not have to take the June test and only the October. However, I was planning to submit my UF application sometime in July.. so will they look at my crap January score if i submit my application in July? I'm not sure when they start reviewing applications but if they do it before my October test.. then how will they know that I can provide a 2000+ composite score...?

Any help please!

I recommend you call the College Board, and ask about the essay, also call UF but remember that if you did really good in another SAT essay question -and you got a good score- then you don’t have to worry so much about this new question you misinterpreted. And BTW if you took the test 4 times it is not going to hurt you.

Just a thought…they don’t care if you took it four times…
I took it four times and the ACT three times.
If you show improvement they actually like it.
My composite after 4 testings was a 2010, and I got in!

also, don’t submit your app in july if you want to wait for your june scores to come back. you can pick and choose which colleges see your SAT scores…but again, I doubt it matters to them.
the time you submit your app doesn’t matter until after the official deadline. the one thing i would recommend doing early is housing. you may have to START the app process before submitting housing, but it’s good to do that as early as possible, especially if you’re really serious about UF (which it sounds like you are).
GL!

FYI, all Florida public universities have access to your SAT and ACT scores via your school. It’s connected through your SSN or Florida student ID#. UF got my scores even though I didn’t send them.

Wow, are you serious? It shows up on my high school transcript or something? Is there a way I can remove it from the transcript or have it not be connected for this one test?

yeah theres a way to do that too…i think when you register you like don’t tell them your high school or something…but again, they like to see improvement.

Well… I already told them my high school… I don’t see why I would not, you have to. But I dont want this to show up on my transcript. It’ll probably not be improvement since I’ll probably be getting a 0 on the essay… I just want UF to not know about this test so I can take the SAT two more times and it only shows up that I took it 3 times.

They don’t care if you got a 0 on the SAT the first time (not possible, but the point stands)… If you retook it and did well, they’ll look at that. I think that when your GPA and ECs are good, they really only care about those scores if they’re at a risk for dropping below previous years’ score averages… But they don’t include your former test scores in their SAT/ACT score averages so you should be fine with just taking it over.
