Help! Important essay question.

I wrote an excellent common application essay about the impact that the criminal defense attorney, Clarence Darrow, had on me. However, I realized that I checked the box stating "Indicate a person who has had a significant influence on you, and describe that influence" instead of the one about the influence of a "character in fiction, historical figure, or creative work." Is it worth it to email them, and explain my mistake? Or should I just presume that they won't really mind?

I know his may seem inconsequential, but I just want to make sure I don't have anything to hurt my chances, especially since my Swarthmore supplement essay is one of my strongest essays.

Any responses would be great.

I think you are OK -- why call them and draw attention to something that trivial. They will probably not notice, and if they do, they won't mind at all. I think an e-mail or a phone call will take away from your application, not add to it. Anyway, that's my humble opinion as a parent who has been through all this two times.
