Hello,
I am currently a sophomore in college. I have done very poorly during my freshman year and so I am in the process of returning to good academic standing. My former major was mechanical engineering, a major I found much too difficult to grasp. I was never interested or had strong background in physics and I believe that led to my poor grades in the mechanical engineering courses. I did put forth effort though; I went to get tutoring help and visited the professor's office hours, but during exams I could never apply what I learned in class. Thus, I changed to a business major, though reluctantly. On the contrary, I have somewhat of an interest in chemistry, especially because my roommates are science majors. Though they are biology majors, I was much more interested in the chemical aspects in their discussions. However, I basically have zero background in chemistry; I did take honors chemistry in high school, but at that time I had no interest in academics at all and put forth minimal effort (sadly ended up with a C). After reading many posts in these forums, I understand that most of you guys and gals are very intellectual and experienced people. I, on the other hand, would identify myself as an "average Joe" student.
That being said, how difficult would it be to pursue chemistry as a minor? Remember, I have no science background, and judging from my mechanical engineering courses, I have pathetic skills in physics even with considerable effort.
I would also be glad to provide any further relevant information if needed!
Thank you~
