I'm considering tagging on a physics minor with my Chemistry major. I intend to do this entirely because I greatly enjoy Physics along with Chemistry and would like to work on the more physical side of Chemistry (I don't like Biology so I'm sticking to the opposite side of the science spectrum).

I have three questions about this:

1) Would this be pointless? Would it just be easier to do lab work in the physics department while taking a couple extra physics classes?

2) Will this be useful? Will anyone care when I finally go to find a research project if I've have a background in Physics as well as Chemistry?

3) Will this be a ridiculous addition to my work load? I understand the Physical Science majors can be a little demanding but I'm very dedicated to the discipline. I'd rather not jump into something insane right off the bat and kill my chances of a good grad school though.

My final career goal is a researcher in something along the lines of Physical or Material Chemistry, anything with a strong slant toward both Physics and Chemistry.
