Good point @gardenstategal about the randomness of a regular day. We are making it work to do the official revisit days, despite some logistical issues - I do think it will be worthwhile! We might be a bit rumpled walking in after a red-eye flight… @copperboom and @squigglyworm27 SkiKid is a very solid football player but not one that would be recruited. I worry that some of these teams might be too good for him to get much playing time. @panpacific thanks for your comments - agreed! @arbitrary99 Congrats to your relative! We went that direction with our older two kids at one of the elite ski academies in northern Vermont, but SkiKid #3 wants to focus on academics. Even though SMS probably has the best academics of the ski academy bunch, none of them compare IMO to the schools we are talking about here. My older son will be competing at US Nationals at the end of the month in Sugarloaf, but we cannot work out the logistics to be there for school visits at the same time!
@squigglyworm27 so sorry! In no way did I mean to disparage the SPS football team! All I was saying was that they are not a powerhouse, so a decent 3rd former could probably get some playing time, especially since SPS does not have PG’s. My info btw is absolutely biased- we come from the deep south where Football is a different animal. SPS did great this year winning 5 of 8 games.
Anyone have insight into the relative strengths of these schools in terms of robotics and pre-engineering type classes? SPS seems to have the most extensive offering and their robotics lab is very impressive. Andover and MX have some computer science and several of the schools have a robotics clubs…

@HMom16 Not sure if you’ve seen these yet.
@doschicos Yes, thanks! SPS definitely seems to have the most in those areas. We actually walked down the musical staircase during our tour.
Is there anything that even comes close at the other schools?
Someone else may have already said this, but I would not make the decision primarily related to football. So many prep kids get hurt, or their plans change as they grow (or don’t grow!). You have amazing choices and I am sure your son will be happy at any of these schools. I have 2 kids at Cate, and I think it’s a very special place. I’m sure many of us feel that way about our children’s schools!
