is it grossly inappropriate to casually drop again that my dad’s an alumnus in my why penn essay? in context, of course, like talking about visiting last spring and finding a professor that he had 40 years ago and how it showed me the strength of the community. it’s only like a paragraph in my essay… please help! i don’t want to push it too hard.

fugged about it.....doesnt really matter.

thanks. isn't it fuggedaboudit, tho? like one big word.....

no it isnt, but you probably mentioned that in the legacy part of the app
i mentioned family members who are part of penn but not directly related so arent legacy in my why penn essay

i talked about my dad in the why penn essay too, but it wasn't like my dad did stuff here, admit me. i talked about in context of the my (current favorite) major: he did medical training at penn and knows some ppl; i want to major in "health and societies"

to clarify
i just said i heard about penn from my uncle (status) and my cousin (status)

Courtette44: Assuming that story is true--that you found one of your dad's professors from 40 years ago when you visited Penn--I think you'd be crazy not to mention it.

it is true. i included it; it's not too bad. thanks guys

I talked about my dad in the Why Swarthmore essay because he went there, but only within the context of the college.

Also, I hear UPenn only gives legacy preference to thosse applying ED...
