well i guess im trying to find out specifically what i want to be...
is this too premature?
well anywho...any college advice?

Check out Occupational and Physical Therapy, good salaries, according to labor bureau better then average increase in positions through 2010. You can get a doctrate or a masters. Very rewarding professions

If you don't like school, then medicine is def not for you. 4 years of college, four years of medical school and atleast 4 years of residency. If you go deep into medicine and get an advanced "residency" like anesthesiology then i think you're looking at 4-7 years of residency.

Buisness or banking i think would be a good route for you. With your grades you could get into a VERY good buisness program at a very respectable college and get a good job as a GM or high ranking officialy at a large back, and possibly make more than a doctor.

Dude, all these occupations you have listed deal with amount of money you will make. You should choose an occupation based on what you love, and not what will make you money. In life, if you choose just money, you will get nothing but that. You will also not be as successful at what you do, because you don't like what you do enough to want to commit your entire life towards it. This doesn't mean that I want you to choose a profession that will make you dirt poor, you should just find a good medium ground. There is no rush right now. You will find out what you want to do soon enough. Trust me, I went through a huge identity crisis in the past two years. I asked myself these same questions. Just do what you love extrememly well, and you will be well off. But most importantly, you will be happy!

dude im in the EXACT same situation as you

your grades maybe a lil better but we have problem and I want to become a doctor for the money and so yea...

sciencerocksandminerals,
I have found pharmacy to be a good profession with a lot of flexibility that can be easily integrated into family life. Full time work is readily available in any city you choose, and part-time work offers many options. For example, you can choose your days, work only on the weekends, only when a babysitter is available, less than eight hours to coincide with school schedules, etc. You can work in hospital, retail, long-term care, home IV, consulting, sales and others. It's not a physician salary, to be sure, but it is a decent wage and offers a lot of flexibility to mothers.

Other medically related jobs that might appeal to you include physical therapist, occupational therapist, respiratory therapist, optometrist, dietician, lab technician, nurse, or physician assistant.

do what you think is interesting...you really don't need a thead for what you enjoy.

Most high school students, or even college students, really have no idea what is involved in the daily tasks of various occupations. Liking a subject in school often correlates poorly to actual employment.

College is four yrs, med school is 4yrs, residency is 4-10yrs depending on specialty. If you are having serious doubts, you need to stop and seriously reevaluate your decision. Are you willing to spend hours on end studying and giving up a college life just to recieve your MD or DO? That is what I plan to do, but I am confident in my decision. If this seems like too much or is overwhelming, look at nurse anesethist(I hope I spelled this right). Not as much stress as a doctor, pay is $200,000 in my town (pop. 25,000, rural area) so I know it is much more in larger cities. Also, occupational therapy and physical therapy are not as much school, and pay very well.
One final note: if you want to go to med school for something other than prestige, money, fame, and power, and have a serious interest in healing people, then you are probably on the right track. If you want to help people, then become a social worker. Hope you make the right decision.

maybe physicians assistant would be good for you?

i had the same situation that i wanted to go into med field cuz i love science and its my favorite subject, but i didnt want to spend many years in college. physicians assistant is only two years of college after undergrad. and they make a lot of money ;)

please forgive if this is a little too late . . . but I suggest maybe psychologist? It needs a 4 year bachelor's and then two years of more study.

I'm a little late too, lol. But why has no one brought up dental school? Dentists have the life of a derm and yet, they don't have to spend so much time in school. Without going the specialty route, dentists only have 8 years. And after those 8 years, the income is pretty good.

Also, dentists have very controllable work hours. Some only work 4 days a week and still are able to support themselves and their family. Plus, I just think dentists are hot, especially the females that like to take charge, lol :P
