Hi everyone,
I’ve already posted this in other spots, I’m just trying to get as much input as possible. I got all my acceptance letters to the schools i applied to but im having trouble choosing which to go to.
I’ve narrowed it down to these three:

Umass Amherst (honors college) - $10,700 after aid
Boston University - $16,100 after aid
Boston College - $20,800 after aid

Umass is the weakest academically, but it’s the cheapest. BC is the best academically, but the most expensive. BU is in the middle for both categories. No matter where i go I’m going to be paying it all in loans because my family can’t afford it. I’m willing to pay the extra money for BC, but I’m not sure if its worth it. Any input will be much appreciated

Well, since you've already determined in your infinite wisdom that BC is better than BU - and decided, very tactfully, to post that conclusion as fact in a BU forum - why don't you pick between BC and UMass?

I know you're a high school student - and I assume you're local - but you might consider not insulting a school when you ask for advice from people connected to it.

But to give you actual advice: the difference betwen UMass and BC is at a minimum over $40k, probably over $50k, so talk to your parents to get an understanding of how much that will cost you and how long you'll be in debt.

Hey guys,
Just want to apologize for any possible insult. To be perfectly honest I copy and pasted this after posting it in the BC forum and didn't really give much thought to the wording. I didn't intend to imply that BC is "better" than BU. I only put that it is stronger academically, and this is just because BC seems to rank higher in academics in the websites and magazines I've read. Again, sorry, and thanks for the advice.

What's you intended major?
What kind of student body do you prefer?
How competitive are you academically?
What's your plan after you graduate from college?
......

There are too little information to make a suggestion for you. And, I totally agree with Lergnom in that it seems you have already decided in you mind that you will attend Boston College...

sal, BC is not better than BU academically, not as a whole and certainly not in various departments. The BC / BU rivalry is often a subject here. If you actually are considering both schools, then you are certainly able to visit them both by the end of April.

From a name-cache perspective, I don't think there is much difference among employers regarding any of these schools. Thus, absent a compelling reason, I would take the cheapest alternative namely UMASS.

Some examples of compelling alternatives are:

The other schools don't have a program in your major or the offering in your perspective major is especially weak.

You have some learning issues that are only addressed by certain schools.

You can't learn in a bigger school and need a smaller environment.

There may be other compelling factors not noted.
