I want to enter the chemical engineering fields and right now, it seems that people argue that name counts for everything- especially for getting employment. I got into NYU, U. Wyoming, Purdue, Georgia Tech, University of New Haven for chemical engineering. However, I don't have the money to go to any of the above except for U. Wyoming. I have visted all of them and NYU's engineering program really was great but Georgia Tech and Purdue were superior. Wyoming is ok, though I am not really sure since I got into big name schools. Thus, the question comes up, Does name really matter for an engineering degree? Please help me out here. Thank You!

WOW! Georgia Tech and Purdue! If it comes down to finances chose U. Wyoming and transfer after a few years or even take a “gap” year to save up money. Do you work? But you should not pass up good engineering schools like those two. NYU’s engineering program is solid but GT’s and Purdue’s are superior- I agree. As far as school name goes it may or may not be important. The important thing is to get your degree and seek a college that puts a lot of grads into jobs after school. But I am not too sure about U. Wyoming- as far as to where it stands.

please someone help me out here

don’t know much about engineering but i agree with hops12.

money is an issue for me too. if you’re really interested in a school, calling/emailing the financial office can really help. i know people that didn’t receive enough aid, called and worked with them and got a significant amount more!

Excellent Idea, I Got A Appeal For Financial Assistance at NYU filed and am just waiting for their reply. I need to look into asking all my schools for more financial aid assistance. Where did you get in btw??

It seems to me that money should not be a problem because engineering i a field that is very prominent.

I am a girl and there are many foundations out there that give scholarships to women in science. By the way has any school offered you any money?

What were you ec in high school , or you an ethnic minority if i was you i would look into the scholarship programs that this program offered for enginnering students?

I have not heard of wymoning but you should not go into a college just because of the program because it might turn out later in life that you don’t really want to go into chemical enginnerring!!! is there any reason why you want to go to chemical enginnering???

Yes and no… I live by a 3rd tier public (UAH - yes, that one), and the engineering students easily get good co-ops, internships, and then full time jobs after graduation because the university is situated in Cummings Research Park…the second largest research park in the nation. So, sometimes location can mean more.

^^
Was that from a part of an essay?

Absolutely it was from MY college essay— justification for sunny2113 since she wanted to know why I was interested in my field. Was it a good justification for my major of study btw?
