Help me decide, please! Urgent!

I have a huge decision about summer plans to make!

On one hand, I have many small opportunities:
-returning camp counselor for a week Special Olympics sports camp
-presiding officer for a Youth in Government 3-day program called Youth Conference on State Issues (we would discuss solutions to problems and tour local government buildings)
-participant for a week program on experimental economics at Chapman University (all expense paid)
-a returning participant, a now elected official, to lead a company with the process of making and presenting a complete business plan in week business camp called Minnesota Business venture
-a national youth gathering in New Orleans for a week

Or, I have the opportunity to be an intern for two months in D.C. (I'm from Minnesota) as a Financial intern for the Special Olympics, which covers all expenses but is unpaid.

Some background:
-I'm very involved in E.C.s and I worry it may be too much, in the eyes of college admissions officers. I think an internship would show concentrated passion, instead of just a lot of little things.
-I would ultimately like to go to UChicago to study economics and get a corporate finance job.

I know this is highly subjective and up to me ultimately, but I would really appreciate some outside opinions. Thank you!

Wow, sounds like either way you’ll have a great summer ahead of you. Personally, I might end up choosing the first one. Then again, I live near DC so I may not be able to fully appreciate the opportunity to intern there. But the first one just sounds like so much fun and you’ll get to do a variety of different things. But congrats on having such an awesome summer!

The business plan option sounds serious. Do you have anything like that already on your EC resume? I think that’s a skill many go to workshops to learn how to put one together.

Just think of what skill/experience you will get from each one and choose the one you are missing or the one you will have the most ful with.

You are lucky to have such good options.

Thank you for your responses! I know–I am going to really enjoy my summer! Talking about these exciting plans just makes doing homework even harder to get through.

yhbultimate11, I definitely understand where you’re coming from. Thanks!

Midhelper, the business plan is a very helpful skill. Last year, I was a part of the MN Business Venture, so I have experience doing that already, but beyond that I am taking a Intro to Business class now, and we’re currently in the process of learning how to make a business plan. Also, I am involved in DECA, where I have learned quite a few things about starting a business. So, yes, I do have things like that already on my resume.

That’s a very important point to mention, Midhelper, about what experiences and skills I will get from both tracks. Thank you for your help!

Does anyone else out there have some thoughts or opinions?

Internship in dc, hands down.
