I have committed to Scripps but just got in off the waitlist to Emory where I had applied ED2. Now I am pretty excited about Scripps. I plan to major in media studies which is a major across the 5Cs with a minor in Spanish and maybe Economics. I live in the mid-Atlantic area. I have visited the Claremont colleges, but not Scripps specifically (toured Pomona and Claremont McKenna) but have been attending virtual events at Scripps. I have not visited Emory. Any thoughts from anyone? Scripps gave me a generous financial aid package. I have not received the FA from Emory yet. Any thoughts as to how to decide?
Wait until you have the aid package from Emory, and then think about things. Here is a good calculator to help you with that: https://www.finaid.org/calculators/awardletteradvanced.phtml
You have never visited Emory, but somehow decided it was worth applying there ED2. What made you do that?
Assuming that you are truly undecided, then follow the money.
From your other posts, it seems to me that you would be very happy at either college. So I would agree with @Publisher - go to the one which offers the best financial support. Happy + some more money > Happy.
I was getting worried because I was getting some waitlist decisions from my EA schools so changed my Emory to ED2. Thought I would have the best chance cause my Mom went there. I just got my financial aid tho from Emory and its 10K less that Scripps. Actually less than any other school where I was accepted. So I am choosing Scripps. I am super excited about it and the 5Cs and southern California. It seems like both Emory and Scripps are collaborative so @mwolf, I think you are right and I would be happy at either but as I already accepted Scripps and am excited about it, and the money is better, I am going to stick with it.
Congratulations!!! The Claremont area is beautiful, and I’m sure you’ll love it there!
