UVA as a reach? Ohio State as a safety?

@theconnoisseur
Thanks but, UVA is southeast and Ohio State is Midwest. I have to stay in northeast region of US.

True, but both states border the northeast (ohio is one state to the west of pennsylvannia and virginia one state south of maryland) and culturally virginia is probably more northeastern then southeastern now. UVA is only about 100 miles from DC too.

I know but once my mom hears Virginia or Ohio I will get a big fat no, no questions asked. Nobody in my family has went out of state for college so them letting me stay in northeast is already a huge stretch. I have family members rolling their eyes and asking me why I would want to go out of state when they are good schools in NY (where I live) all the time.

I see. Well good luck

Okay so I just need one more reach and I am set with my list…
- Penn State (safety)
- Binghamton (safety)
- University of Delaware (safety)
3)Fordham University (low match)
4)Boston University (match)
5)NYU (high match/low reach)
6)Boston College (reach)
7)? 1 more reach

Maybe Tufts? It’d be a reach though.

@TheKongo I think a bit of a reach for a reach but I will keep that in mind, thanks.

I don’t think that SUNY Binghamton is a safety, nor are Penn State and Delaware. They would be more matches. Some of the other SUNY schools like Cortland or Oneonta would be safeties. Hofstra should be a safety. You can look at schools like UConn or Univesity of Rhode Island. What will be important will be having outstanding essays and demonstrating interest in the schools you are applying to-campus visits or alumni interviews, in-school presentations and so on.
There is also the question of how affordable these schools are for your family and what kind of financial package is needed. Of course the SUNY schools will be the most affordable for you.
