I score a 35/50 on my math 31A. High is 49, low is 9, median is 30, mean is 28.7, and standard deviation is 8. I think I got a A-. Am I right?

Step away from the Statistics book.

No, you didn’t get an A-, You are less than 1 std deviation from the mean, and one standard deviation is 84-85%, so you got a B-.

you have a better way?

does it really matter at this point?

Looks like a solid B

Binks09, actually i have a score of 35 so i am 2.3 over one standard deviation. The mean is 28.7 with a standard deviation of 8 meaning the majority people score between 24.7 and 32.7. I agree with UCLA…ft it is a B. A- was just wishful thinking. Thanks for all the replies, guys!

28.7 + 8 = 36.7

sheep, I think you need to (re)take stats. Looks like a B to me too.

36.7 > 35

Someone needs to go back to first grade. Remember, the gator is hungry, he wants to eat the bigger number.

(Standard Deviation is +/-8, not simply a range of 8… it is actually a range of double Sx, or 16)

A standard deviation of 8 for a mean of 28.7 means that some people score 4 points BELOW the mean and some people score 4 points ABOVE the mean, thus the range of 24.7 - 32.7. Where the heck did you guys graduate from???

no, you are completely wrong. lmao.

You should take this up with the professor after receiving your B.

lawlz. +/- 8. try harder for the next one.

hahahahaha You just justified your 35/50 score right here in this thread. Definitely “A-” material in ignoramus land.

Depends on your curve… I can see that being curved to a B+ max, more likely a B-.

Doesn’t matter. Most professors look at raw scores at the end and curve based on that.
