I had always assumed UNC would be a reach but other people have told me it is a match (which I am not convinced of) so I feel like I need a prestigious reach school to apply to just in case. Any suggestions?

You don’t need to have a prestigious reach just to have one.
Is cost a consideration? Many prestigious colleges are more expensive than UNC in state although they do consider financial need.
Admission to UNC is very selective and admission it not a guarantee- even if you have the scores and grades within the range of admitted students. It is a “reach” in that sense.
When making up your list of schools, consider schools you would like to attend, and can afford. Then consider your grades/scores and the admission criteria for those schools. You can include schools that are “reaches” but be sure you would like to attend and can afford them. There is also nothing wrong with preferring a “match” or “safety” school over a “reach”. Apply to schools you would be happy at.
It would help for people who want to make suggestions to post what interests you in a school: majors, locations, cost, school size…

Search through all the schools that could be considered reach schools for you and pic the one you like best. If it’s super competitive and you think it’s out of your league, still give it a shot. I read somewere that 100% of students who don’t apply to Harvard (insert any competitive school in place of Harvard) don’t get in.
