Hi!
Im a high school senior in a special engineering magnet program. Basically, I hve taken electricity andmagnetism classes, statics, dynamics, computer software. I think im giong to study engineering. I have taken AP environmental science and loved it, specially the parts dealing with 1) sustainability of systems, in any area, whether human with all the capacities of populations, etc, 2) renewable and other kinds of energy/ global warming.

I am pretty confident Ill get into a good school, Im aiming for cornell/columbia/mit.

do you have any suggestions of what i could do in environmental engineering, or some kind of environmental studies? please, also if you could, tell me about the demand of the fields which you tell me.

As of now, thanks so incredibly much!

If you want to work in energy or sustainability, you don't have to do EnvE or EnvSci. Most engineering branches will let you work in these areas.

Since you're aiming for MIT, they even have a website listing all the classes, regardless of department, that pertain to energy, and they are working on creating an energy minor. Maybe browsing through them, you will get an idea of a possible major or subfield, whether you end up at MIT or not.

MIT-EI | Energy Classes

and do you know about sustainability? Im more interested really in that area. I'd like to know something more specific towards that area, since you know I have to keep my options open (mit= hard to get in), so maybe a department/major for other universities.

also, is this kind of career in high demand?
