I'm an international student still finding safeties. I'm afraid of being rejected by all universities :D. And I just have only Ithaca College in my safety list.

Ithaca is not a safety, chances of them meeting your financial need are slim. Also, in the states at least, Ithaca is unlikely to land you a banking job if you mean investment banking.

Unfortunately, there are no safeties for an international needing aid. Your safeties can only be schools you can afford to be full pay at.

thanks for your help :D. Actually my parents can contribute more than that but they said that I have to get as much aid as possible to make the things less burdensome
What about st john’s university(NY)?
Or can you mention some generous universities for me?

You should take a look at smaller private colleges that are looking to expand their student diversity. Large public universities will not offer you Financial Aid because they have to subsidize their own students already and no offense, but you won’t be getting any merit scholarships with those stats.

*Actually my parents can contribute more than that but they said that I have to get as much aid as possible to make the things less burdensome *

If you’re talking about investment banking, doesn’t that mean that you need to be going to a school in particular areas…like New York? If so, that will limit your choices.

I don’t think you understand financial aid. If your parents can “pay more” then you probably wouldn’t qualify for much/any aid even at the schools that give int’ls aid.

*Or can you mention some generous universities for me? *

Also, safety schools don’t typically give need-based aid to int’ls. Some do give merit scholarships, but many had earlier deadlines for scholarships (like Nov 15, Dec 1, Dec 15).

edit…just noticed your GPA…that’s too low for most merit scholarships. Most require a GPA of 3.5, 3.75, 3.8, etc.

How much WILL your parents pay if you got no aid at all???

what I aim is the need-based financial aid, I know that i’m not qualified for the merit based
I’m looking for private universities that offer need-based, can you tell me some?
I like accounting as well and if I major in finance, I want to be a financial analist :D

In the worst case, my parents will have to sell one of our houses, but I don’t want it to happen. In a poor country like VN, $20k means a lot, not like in U.S:).And my parents need savings for emergency needs(illnesses)

That’s another problem. Even for need-based aid, most schools offer Financial Aid only to US citizens, which is a large problem for you. There are a small number of need-blind institutions, which means that after you are admitted, you will be given a financial package that will ensure that you are able to attend that college. However, there are only a few top tier institutions that continue to do that (for example, Princeston) and those are out of your reach.

It will be difficult, but if you look into some smaller and less well-known schools, you might find a diamond in the dirt.

my parents will have to sell one of our houses

You don’t understand.

You’re not likely going to QUALIFY for need-based aid.

Need based aid is NOT based on what your parents “say” that they want to pay. Need -based aid is based on your parents’ income/assets. Since you say that your parents can pay for more than $30k per year, you’re not likely going to QUALIFY for need-based aid.

Everyone would like to “save” their money and not spend it on college. However, you don’t get “need-based” aid that way. If you want to save your money, then you have to go for merit aid.

BESIDES…safety schools do NOT typically give need-based aid to int’l students.

If you are creating a list of safety schools…EXPECT to pay “full freight” unless you can get some merit aid.

Your best bet is to look for safety schools that have a lowish COA…like some of the southern flagship schools cost about $30k per year for tuition, room, and board.
