Help me find some schools! (So-so GPA!)

Hi!

I have not done much research, at all, on college. I don't know of many schools.
What I do know however, is that I want only schools that are:

-Close to the beach (~2 hr max, cali or east coast)
-Academically sound (not all out party, but one I can still get into)
-Big (university)
-Not freezing climate (No NY!)

My stats:
-Soph/Fresh gpa -> 3.1
-Junior gpa so far -> 3.6
Upward trend :) But will it really matter?
-Bad rank
-Goodish SAT (1900-2100) projected
-only a few sports, 150 hours community service
-hardest classes possible (ib diploma)

I'm in upstate NY. I will NOT go to college here, unless ALL else fails. I'm unsure of any majors, so a big school is necessary because I have a wide range of interests. Maybe film, writing, history, business, premed, etc

So, could I please get some suggestions of schools I should look into? Thanks!

P.S. Distance from home is not an issue, in fact, the farther, the better.

The University of Washington. =]

Will you need financial aid?

For U of Wash, refer to my #4 requirement xd

As for financial purposes, I don't want any suggestions excluded because of price, but I do have siblings and am not from an extremely wealthy family. But please, suggest everything that comes to mind, I'll sort through them regarding financial issues later.

Seattle isn't New York.
It's cold in the winter, but rarely is it below freezing.
We get snow only once or twice a year.
There are lots of clouds in the winter, but that doesn't necessarily mean rain.
Our Springs/Summers/Early Falls are beautiful.

Anyway, if you want nonstop sunshine, look at the state schools in California.
I dont know that much about them, but there are some Cal state schools that aren't too hard to get into.

Hows your current high school?
Is it public?
Or academically rigorous?
It makes a big difference w/ your GPA.

Please understand that attending a public U in another state will cost quite a bit. Public Us are supported with state taxes which are directed to state residents. Is it in your families best interest to have you pay high costs for a public U when you can get the same education in state for less. You can always attend a masters program in a warmer climate or move after you graduate.

The best option financially would be to look at a good NY state school.

If you're completely bent on going out of state understand that it will be significantly more expensive.

I realize the financial repercussions. But right now, I just want to look at my options. This is not my final decision :P

I really just want to see what kind caliber schools I should be looking at, that fit me, and that also may be in my geographic interest

UCF or FSU both fit the requirements.
