Help me? Grade discrepancy?

Hey!

I'm like in need of help. I'm getting so out of it due to this stupid discrepancy.

So for my history class the semester grade is calculated as 45% each quarter and 10%.
Q3: 97
Q4: 88
Final: 94
Semester grade on powerschool: 87 ??

When I add it its 97(.45) + 88(.45) + 94(.1) = 92.65
I really don't know where the 87 came from because even when i do the normal 40/40/20 percentage its ends up being 92.8.

HELP! I'm kinda freaking out because its a big difference and if they can't fix it I'm stuck with a B+ D:

Plus if there was an error updating powerschool, then it wouldn't be fair to me right? If i was missing something or there was a problem with an assignment, powerschool should update so I can fix the problem immediately. I shouldn't be worrying about grades once the semester is over! Tbh, I'm starting to feel as if powerschool is cheating me...this is the second time...

I told my teacher and counselor. Teacher said that it would correct itself automatically..I doubt that..WELPPPP

You need to go to your administator to have this resolved. B’s are nothing to play with. I really have no idea how your teacher got 87 out of those grades.

Eh if it’s powerschool like I have, then it may not be an “error” exactly per say.

For example, if different assignments (HW is 10% versus Test is 50% of overall grade), then your quarter grade won’t determine the semester grade exactly like your teacher claims. Basically, it could be weighted funky so that it doesn’t come out to 40%/40%/20%.

Although if your teacher stated that it would/should be graded based solely on percent per quarter, then you have a problem and should contact teh authorities.

edit: I speak from experience where teacher has said that its scored like yours (40/40/20) but she still graded by weighted assignments etc…

That’s not really what he’s talking about, HML. The weighting is for grade per quarter, which should already have the specific assignment weighting factored in. One of my friends actually had this exact same thing happen to him a few years back, when Powerschool gave him a grade of a 92 (a B+ here) instead of the 97 which he rightly deserved. When he discovered the mistake, he went and talked to the guidance department; they did the math by hand and corrected it. Obviously you want to fix the problem now, but you might need to have some patience. I’m sure that it will get sorted out at the beginning of next year if not now…

Thanks for your replies. Fortunately I got it fixed…somewhat. LOL My teacher fixed up the grade in powerschool so that my gpa is fine now. However, the official grade hasn’t changed. Stupid powerschool! It won’t change until the school registrar changes it. Sigh. Will wait till it changes…unless I will have to wait till school reopens to finally change it.
