Help Me... Help You

I feel like I missed something in the Great Gatsby. I thought it was relatively uninteresting (until the end), and the characters were unsympathetic. I don't know though, a lot of people love it. So you may enjoy it. If so, you should fill me on why it's good :)

The Grapes of Wrath is the most incredible book. The story is interesting, but what really gets you is the writing. Just gorgeous.

I also second Catch 22. Funny and dark. Fascinating war commentary. And it's truly one of the only novels I've seen effectively use irony throughout. Speaking of ironic, anti-war novels, ** All Quiet on the Western Front** is one my favorite books. It's a very fast read, and there are tons of possibilities for analyzation.

I have narrowed it down to either The Stranger or The Importance of Being Earnest. The thing is I must choose something that will capture my interest as this project will span two months.

I vote The Stranger. I've been essentially working with that book for more than a year, and I'm still not tired of it.

Animal Farm-Probably too short, but i really loved this book for it allowed me to have a different prespective on society.
Oedipus cycle-or just Antigone-great plays that relate today and are understandable. Antigone was the best of the three-great example of civl disobedience.
