@mom2collegekids you’re right. In still in high school I just heard this from someone who went to Stanford.
Drop most matches except uiuc…they are too expensive. You need a solid college that is inexpensive. Add texas tech. Kansas. Nebraska. West Va. South Florida. Florida State. Oklahoma State.
19 "Someone who REALLY knows that they want to go to [GRADUATE] school should use their undergrad opportunity to reasonably maximize their position, while still attending a desirable school."
@mom2collegekids This is not just a good med school point but applies to a lot of graduate school goals. Not incurring a ton of debt makes grad school easier in almost all degrees. Even if you’re (mostly) working your way through it’s best to not be dragging that debt with you when it can be avoided.
I agree with @mom2collegekids about not incurring debt, but I always have trouble with the idea of a high school kid being absolutely sure that they will go to med school at age 16. People change in college, and it might not be the best idea to choose your college based solely on that assumption.
@ThankYouforHelp That is a good point. I don’t think anyone is suggesting that the student go to a school where there wouldn’t be very good options with a career path change.
