<p>I love science and engneering and have won regional/state/international awards in both. If you enjoy doing research, I recommend Intel ISEF (International Science and Engineering Fair).</p>
<p>National Merit Scholarship isn't that great, but it definitely won't hurt you. Basically, anything at the national or state level should be considered prestigious. At least, that's how I see it.</p>
<p>The National Merit Scholars aren't announced until after the admission decisions are made (unless perhaps you are on a waitlist.) They do announce the National Merit Finalists in time for applications.</p>
<p>It lists things like TASP, AP National scholar, math/science awards...what about other humanities awards like Girl Scout Gold Award, Eagle Scout, Davidson Fellow?</p>
