Hi everyone I am a high school senior in Philadelphia and I am between two colleges to go to in Fall 2020. I am between Temple university and University of Tennessee. So the pros about Temple are that it is way cheaper, it is close to home, and good opportunities because it is in the city. However, the first time I stepped foot on to Tennessee’s campus I fell in love. I am afraid because the cost is so expensive and it is 8 hours from home. I do know people who are going there from my area however. I am scared however of the southern culture and if I would fit in or not. I have expecatations for myself that I should go somewhere other than close to home but I am unsure of whether I would even fit in or not. I also want that fun college experience and I am worried Temple won’t give me that? I am not sure what to do please help me!!
I would choose Temple if it is cheaper. With the money you save you can do a study abroad.
What is the price difference and who is paying? What is your planned major? And you’ll be commuting to Temple if you attend?
And why did you apply to Tenn-you seem to have significant concerns about the campus culture.
Yeah that is true. Thank you. So my parents are paying for a large part of it. They are still having me take out stafford loans. Tennessee in all cost is about 45,000, but with sororities and other off campus stuff would come close to about 50,000. Temple is 30,000. So I would in the end have 60,000 in debt and Temple I would have 20,000. I would not be commuting I want to live in the dorms and get the full experience. The first time I visited Tennessee I fell in love with it and had an awesome experience. I visited again in the winter and it was not the same experience and I noticed some definite cultural differences and got a little freaked out and wondered if it was worth all the money. I’m wondering if I should just give it a chance to see if I like it? Or if I should go with Temple.
