This is my huge senior project...the kind you get 3 months in advance and basically make or break your grade.

The topic can involve ANYTHING related to the British Commonwealth (England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland) and must be persuasive.

So basically I'm going to be dedicating hours upon hours to this stupid project so I'd like it to be somewhat interesting.

Here are some topics I've thought about:
1. The death of Princess Diana
2. Harry Potter (not sure what my thesis would be though)
3. Something involving the class system in England in the 19th century.
4. Something involving prostitution in London
5. The Beatles

kind of like what alamode was saying, for sports like basketball and baseball, America is really THE place for foreign athletes to come and play professionally; you could do something like about Bekham recently coming to CA for soccer and if America will eventually become THE place for professional soccer (I'm not so sure this will actually happen, but I think it's an interesting topic)

oh and another one, have you ever heard of the Milgram experiment? sorry I don't really feel like explaining the whole thing here, but it's really easy to look up and I thought it was REALLY interesting, it might make a good topic (It's kind of like people will do whatever an authority figures tell them even if the thing they are doing is morally wrong. . there's more to it, but I would def check that one out too)

If you're doing the Harry Potter thing you could write about
(a) how it's affected British culture as a whole
(b) what effect it's had on Britain's international reputation
(c) how Harry is in fact secretly gay, with textual support.

Is this project part of a specific subject, e.g. history, or is it more general in scope? What sort of sources do you have access to where you are, or are you going to be relying on the internet? What are your own areas of interest? There's no point setting yourself a large task if you have no interest in the subject.

I don't know if there is a time period from which to work, but you could somehow persuade someone how the British have influenced a vast amount of the coutries and cultures of the world, from The Colonies to WWII to current events such as the involvemtn with Iraq/Middle East conflict.
