Help me pick!! Mizzou vs. CWRU

After being rejected from my final 2 colleges, I was about to commit into Case Western Reserve University, but my state school just offered me a full ride.

After getting a lot of feedback from Case students, attending Case Webinars, and talking to the various people at Case, I really am convinced to go there. Case is in a city, the language programs are great, there are a plethora of opportunities/connections available, and the academics at Case are top quality.

But my State University, Mizzou (University of Missouri-Columbia) is a great school that offered me a full ride. They also have great food, school spirit, study abroad programs, and facilities/dorms. However, they do not offer the social & city scene of Case, nor the top grade of academics Cwru holds.

My parents are willing to pay for the $10k yearly Case West costs, but I’m really torn now. One thing is that all my friends are going to Mizzou and talking trash on Case just cause Mizzou offered me a full ride. But I don’t want to pick a college just cause my friends are going. As someone once told me, “if you pick just cause your friends are there, it’ll just be high school 2.0. Pick the one that will allow you to grow the most as an individual.” I’d really appreciate your input. ?

I usually say go for the no debt option esp if grad school is in your future but if the difference is only 10k a year ( is it only 10K a year??) go where you feel your gut tells you and it seems Case , but you will lose the rah rah school of sports. I would suggest going through the same things you did for Case for Mizzou and see if you feel different after hearing their pitch.

Ye, Case is looking to be around $10k per year.
Also, don’t get me wrong: I’d LOVE a great sports team with great school spirit, but it’s not my top priority.
I have also toured Mizzou and asked around there. I loved the visit when I was there: great business program, great eateries and facilities, and great spirit and professors. That being said, I’m really attracted to Case and the opportunities it has as well.

One thing that’s really making this especially hard is that I’ve toured Mizzou but haven’t toured Case, due to the Corona outbreak.

It truly is OK to like the Big State U. If you attend, it will only be high school 2.0 if you let that happen. Plenty of people attend their home state Us and only see their HS pals when they put together a car pool to go home for a school vacation period.

I get that, but I feel like the language program is better at Case and the city of Cleveland offers more opportunities as someone who wants to go into translation/interpretation.
I will say, my state school is pretty cool though. I just want to be able to push myself to reach my limits too.
