Science building is near College 9/10 right? I didn't even attempt to walk from there to the other side of ucsc... It would probably take 20 minutes or more, and take into account the rainy days that won't make it any easier....

that sucks. I still have 30min to reconsider kresge. Based on the visual tour on ucsc website, crown is also pretty far from science building too.

Crown isn't that far, since it's close from 10/9 which ( I think ) is close to science building. But if you like Kresge go for Kresge! There's always buses

It's 1230 am, and I've finally made up my mind (Crown!). I am satisfied with my decision. I don't want too many distractions, and it seems like Crown people will keep me on track... If I want to party, parties are just 5 minutes away :P Not like Santa Cruz city isn't distracting enough haha.

Anyways.... I hope I won't have any regrets, in case I do, how easy is transferring?

^courgette: same here. I change my mind and go with crown.

tenchi,

AFAIK, all the students at Kresge cook most of their own meals in their apartment's kitchen, and buy limited meal plans so they can use the cafeterias of other colleges when their schedule makes it too difficult to go back to their apartments for meals.

College 9/10~ These are the newest colleges, and it seems like they have the best facilities and dining halls, but the themes (International and Global Issues / Social Justice and Community ) seem somewhat boring....
does anyone know how important the "theme" of the college is? because that was not part of the criteria i had when i chose college 9.

college 9: international and global perspectives.

i know what the theme is.. my question is how important is it.. am i going to be affected by it in a way that i dont want

Codoc~~
I was judging colleges 9/10 themes just based on the titles, not what they actually entail. Besides, the class is only a quarter long, so it's probably not that important although I did make a big deal out of it when deciding between crown and stevenson... I think the class itself might have to do with international relations etc.

It only takes 20 minutes to walk across the campus from Stevenson to Porter, and west side to science hill is 10-12 minutes from my dorm. Seriously, once you know the campus it feels small.

i'm surprised no one has said this...

oakes is the most diverse. not to be confused with "most minorities" or "most ethnic". those generalizations are false because it generally means everyone except "whites". every race, culture, sexual orientation, field of study, or any other category is represented here. even though everyone's different, it feels like a family.

there's also college 8...close proximity to oakes and porter or, diversity and artsy. plus there's nice views of the ocean and a dining hall.

Porcupyne~ what do you think of Stevenson and Crown? What about switching colleges is it easy to do?

anyone know anything about transferring between colleges?

no? anyone?
