I have trouble on starting my essay for smu...ive been procrastinating on it for 3 weeks now and i cant get myself to write it...how should i start??? what should i write about so that it will be unique??? the topics im thinkin of using are 1. The Admission Committee would like to know some of that which you are thinking, laughing, or talking about at this time in your life...or.. 2. A topic of your own choosing......PLS HELP ME!!!!!

bumppppppppp

talk about kobe cheating and how its funny his wife forgave him after she got a 4 million dollar ring... then mention golddigger

and throw in the Chipotle burrito.

what are your interests, what is your family like, what is something that happened that made you think

Think about what you do- clubs, sports, work, etc and draw from that...

The first topic sounds interesting, but whichever topic you choose--be honest. You'd be surprised at the quality and depth of some of the smallest moments in your life. One way to just START writing is to to sit down, get away from as many distractions as you can, and start writing ****.

Remember; the first draft is where you just write your thoughts down--they don't have to be beautiful or unique in any way! Just write. It'll get your creative juices flowing, so that a couple of days later, you can look at your first draft with fresh eyes, and begin the real writing--revision. Take your time revising, and take a few breaks.

Let your English-inclined friends read it, and any adults you respect read it. Ask them whether or not they enjoyed readinging it, and more importantly, whether or not the essay clearly represents you as a person and applicant.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the post RWT...will it be wierd if I talk about how a certain celebrity really affected my life just because i "fell in luv" with her in such a way?? I am also a huge kobe fan and have lots to say about his current issues and criticisms from the public and also how he influences my life positively....will be too much to have those two ideas as the backbone of my essay??
