This is my first post on this sight...I'm looking for an additional info or advice I can get.

I'm an athlete. I have narrowed my list down to Stanford, Georgetown and Princeton. I have been offered conditional acceptance to all 3 schools. This means that as long as I don't get any D's or F's this year, I'm in. Obviously, I'm not seeking advice with the athletic factors involved in my decision. All 3 schools are a fit on that front. I'm more interested in the academic and social side. If I start to get injured (heaven forbid) than I don't want to be stuck in a place I hate.

So far I have visited Stanford and Georgetown. I loved them both about the same. Stanford has an amazing campus but I really was not impressed with Palo Alto. Seemed pretty but very boring. Not that I will have the time to venture off campus much anyway but it would still be nice to have the option. Georgetown has the great campus and city but the facilities were just so terrible. There doesn't seem to be a lot of athletic support there. I would never have gotten in if not for athletics so a support system for athletes is important to me. Princeton is next so we'll see how that goes. It would be tough to turn down an ivy league education. Any thoughts on the campus, students social life, atmosphere of these 3 schools???

Congrats on your conditional acceptances to these three schools!!!. Stanford and Princeton have fairly similar suburban campus environments, but close enough to major cities for easy weekend trips. Georgetown is in the middle of DC, and with all the grads in town Georgetown provides a terrific entree into the DC intern/job market. Stanford and Princeton are also known for their undergrad research programs, while GU is more focused on liberal arts (assuming you want to attend the college). You will probably do the most writing at Princeton given that most students write tow theses there. While you are undoubtedly the expert here, I suspect Stanford’s athletic facilities far surpass anything GU or Princeton would offer. At the end of the day, it is hard to go wrong at any of these schools, but if you are focused on technology/software than Stanford is probably the best bet, if you want an entree into politics and DC than GU makes sense, while if Wall Street and NYC is to your fancy Princeton is probably the ticket.

Current freshman and student-athlete at Georgetown. Just because Stanford is a brand name school doesn’t mean you should go just based on what other people say who may not have actual experience. Georgetown is in the nation’s capitol with more opportunities available than schools in California or anywhere else. Georgetown is a true community, dedicated to educating the mind and the body with incredibly vibrant and diverse people. From my perspective as a student the choice is obvious. Princeton is overrated and so is Stanford. I looked at a few Ivys but when I visited Georgetown it was an easy decision. If you make the choice to become a Hoya I promise you won’t regret it!
