Agreed wholeheartedly. Got two Cornell enggs in my family haha.

Okay, *most ivies.

Agreed wholeheartedly. Got two Cornell enggs in my family haha.

Okay, *most ivies.

It’s never a good idea to judge the quality of an education by rankings alone.

Yale engineering grads too learn their stuff well.

I really don’t think that there is any need to compare huge schools with large departments spread across all disciplines like the engineering schools you mentioned with a place like Dartmouth, a small university that strives to be a College.

i’d say the posters here are super-rude (except pixie)…

And how was I rude?

no offense but your 1st sentence was “Yale engg sucks”. (yes you were not rude to the OP) But still you can’t demean any institution like that…!!

Lol you’re getting worked up because of that?

What is with people calling anyone and everyone ‘rude’ today? First perfectpixie (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/india/1086391-university-should-i-select.html) then you cubin1.

@pp: Yeah, I agree, I just ranted unnecessarily in that thread :)

THAT was rude? You’re 5, right?
EDIT: Yes offense.

^Nah, not just that thread, I commented only after getting tired of seeing months of your posts most of which seemed to serve the sole purpose of making snide comments at others. And yes, I don’t forget even if I don’t react.

To clarify something Dartmouth Tuck is the Graduate Business school which is a top 10 school. Thayer is the engineering college at Dartmouth. And I would prefer that a person goes to a school like Thayer than Penn State because the jobs here in the US are mostly based on alumni relations. So better the alumni, the better the companies recruit. Thus many people who go to engineering in places like Dartmouth Engg or Duke engg or columbia engg actually work in Investment Banking or Consulting fields and not in pure engg jobs. And some go to graduate school. While it is a lot easier to score these high paying IB or consulting jobs from Ivy league schools or top schools like Duke. It would be very difficult to score those from Penn State engg, Purdue engg, GT engg or others. But Michigan is a hotspot for both.

actually the thing which catches my attention is the lack of some thoughtful responses which keep in mind the situation of the OP… Not everyone can get into IIT/BITS. In fact, no one can be sure of that…
And how do you think a Yale kid would feel after reading “yale sucks”… (ok not that much big a deal)
But i’m sure that your comments on OP’s situation are really bad…

^^ thanks for the valuable information. Michigan is the way to go, I guess. Atleast for me.

^Yale’s reputation needs no validation. A Yalie would be mature enough to realize that my comment was a fleeting one and was not meant to be taken seriously. Any which way, if you grow a pair and stop ■■■■■■■■ you’re welcome to stay here or else ■■■■.

BTW, from what I hear, getting into a Masters program at an IIT/BITS/NIT is not very difficult since the main reputation of these institutions lies in their amazing undergraduate programs in engineering.

1st of all, the yale thing wasn’t much of a concern…
2nd after seeing ur stats nd history i can easily question ur authority nd be rude as hell, but i won’t …!!

Out of curiosity, how does looking up his stats and history co-relate to your ability/validity to be rude to him?

Guys chill a bit! we’re all in a bit of tension here seeing that boards are so close and the decisions aren’t far either.

Ani, MA at IIT is not easy to get into at all. It’s grad programs are as good as undergrad.

That’s not what people generally seem to say. I know plenty of current IIT students in different campuses, and nobody has as yet given me a positive review of IIT’s Masters programs, although it is difficult to get into.

So, if I may ask, how do you say that it’s equally good for grad?

i can be rude while questioning his authority (:
(btw anirudh didn’t even have any reason to be rude)

To the OP: If you want any real advise post in the Parents Forum. You will get feedback from people who know what they are talking. Other than that CC are mostly teenagers with no understanding of the real world.

I would choose CSU over all the others you mentioned.
