Out of curiosity, why are you not applying to UMinn? And why not have Penn State on your list?

I agree that 17 schools is a bit much to apply to (if that guy applied to PSU as well as UMinn on top of the other 15).

No no ! I’m sorry I didn’t mention. I’m gonna cut the list short to final 7 or 8. Surely I was never gonna apply to 17 ! Still I will consider your suggestions  thanx.

U suggest, university of Pennsylvania, do you think I have chances with my grades ?

This is a 10 university list:
Ambitious:

  1. CNSE, Albany (SUNY) ***
  2. UC, San Diego ***
  3. Rice University
  4. University of Delaware
    Chances: (I presume !)
  5. University of Illinois at Chicago

  8. University of Florida-Gainesville
    Safe: (assuming again)
  9. SUNY, Buffalo

Well, I’m not sure that several of the listed colleges are as cutting edge in graduate nano so unless you’re looking for purely safety, I don’t know if I’d focus on them. I shouldn’t have mentioned PSU as their strength is more in undergrad for the time. We toured their program for DD and it was pretty cool, but must not be established well for grad studies.
As a follow up, not sure if you’ve seen it, but interesting information:
[Top ranked nanotech schools in the USA Progressive Blogic](http://problogic.■■■■■■■■■■■■■/2011/06/05/top-ranked-nano-tech-schools-in-the-usa/)

Having been on UMinn’s campus a few times and seeing their new Nano facility which will be done Spring 2014, it’s impressive their commitment to grow it. My daughter is interested in following the path that you’re on. As she hopes to eventually be a professor, the school’s strength in their programs focus is of interest.
