So here’s the deal:[ul]
[] Your study abroad program sounds like an incredible opportunity, so 1) don’t do it or not do it because of what colleges might think; adcoms’ supposed opinions shouldn’t dictate how you lead your life, and 2) regardless, colleges will probably love it, as you’re stepping out of your comfort zone.
[] Your SAT is still over 2100, which is great for those schools.
[/ul]

Keeping that in mind…
University of Pittsburgh: low match / safety (if you’re a PA resident)
Penn State: safety
Case Western: low match
University of Michigan: high match
Northeastern: low match
Boston College: high match / low reach

Good luck!

For the most part I agree with Thebeatlestoday. However, I think Case Western is a high match. Best of luck!

University of Pittsburgh: Yes, you will get in
Penn State: safety, Yes
Case Western: You will be accepted
University of Michigan: maybe
Northeastern: yes
Boston College: Probably

You are very realistic (unlike many other posters). Don’t worry, you are on target.

@Thebeatlestoday: Thank you for your helpful advice and even more for your perspective. I know you are right, most of the time I’m super excited(!!!) to go on exchange, but sometimes I get a little freaked out about college. Ultimately my higher education (and exchange) are about personal growth and learning. It’s nice that someone who’s accomplished as much as you have is able to give me that advice.:)

@Smithg1227 Thanks for your opinion I will definitely keep that in mind and will be sure to chance you back.:)

@nervedoctor: Thank you, it is really relieving to hear that I am realistic and on track. I’m sort of a worrier so it is nice to hear that type of feedback from a parent that has already been through the process and has a child in a really good school.:)
