I’m taking the ACT in a week and a half and I’ve been studying, but I can’t seem to get the hang of ACT science. I just took a practice test and got 29 math, 35 english, 35 reading, 24 science. I read The ACT Black Book by Mike Barret and did several practice exams, on which I have consistently done poorly on science. When I google it, I keep seeing that it’s all about reading, but I’m a great reader.
Try the book “For the Love of ACT Science.” The ACT Black Book is outdated and overrated.
Thanks
My son took ACT twice. We were previously advised that Science section is just reading paragraphs themed on a Science topic and understanding tables and graphs. There is nothing you can study. So, relax and good luck! My son got 24 & 28 for it.
Bro, can you please help me with timing in ACT reading? I’m doing so bad on that. For science, never read the passage until necessary. Read mostly the graphs, that’s where most of the answers are.
Thanks, my issue may lie in trying to understand everything before looking at the questions. I wish I could help you with ACT reading, but I think the only reason I do well is because I’ve been reading a lot since I was a kid.
Get the official 2016/17 ACT Prep book. Its the updated one. Also go on ■■■■■■■■.com . It has past tests. Most current one is from June, so it definitely prepares you. Honestly, just like the reading, it is all about preperation. Eventually you get used to all the types of graphs and can just plow through the section. I just took the ACT October test, and you may want to start reviewing math a bit more! It was difficult. Ex: Hyperbola and conics.
