So, I have a dilemma…
Here’s my schedule this year (Junior):
0 per: Survey of American Lit. (Pre AP Eng)
1 per: Chamber Orchestra
2 per: AP Chem
3 per: Advanced Journalism
4 per: AP Calc
5 per: AP US History
6 per: Directed Study: Creative Writing
As you can tell, my schedule is pretty insane. I’m into my 3rd week of Junior year so far. Although I can probably handle the work, I want to be able to focus more on individual classes and I have other commitments, like sports, clubs, and volunteering.
Because the 2015 AP Chem Test’s passing rate is 7% and only 3 people in the past year of my teacher’s class passed (with 3’s), I think the best solution for me would be to drop AP Chem. However, I’ve heard that the higher ranking colleges look for AP Chem when looking at transcripts. Also, the alternative would be physics (which might have around the same workload) or something along the lines of horticulture or zoology.
So, what’s the best solution for me? Do I drop AP Chem? Do I deal with it and let my other classes suffer? How will either option effect the way colleges see me?
