I'm a rising senior in Illinois planning on majoring in business or econ
gpa: uw:3.4 w:3.9 top 20%
act: 31
sat: 660m 680cr 660w
(will retake in the fall)

My list so far:
UIUC
Indiana Bloomington
Wisconsin Madison
NYU
Northwestern

Does anyone have any more suggestions as to where I should apply? and tell me whether they're reaches, matches, or safeties? I prefer urban areas/large cities.

Northwestern is a reach, NYU is probably a high match, and you're most likely in at the other 3.

IU Bloomington is the best business school on your list, except for maybe NYU, and you could probably get merit aid after retaking the SAT. UIUC has extremely strong business as well, and in-state tuition would make it well worth it. I'd personally go with one of the two. Academic strength and reduced prices are a good combination.

If you're looking at Econ, also try UChicago.

I would agree, except I don't think you'll like it, looking at the other schools on your list. Chicago does not have an undergraduate business program.

If you're looking in the midwest, I would add WashU.

Looking at their current admission stats:

Reach - Northwestern
High Match - NYU
Match - UW Madison
Low Match - UIUC
Safety - Indiana Bloomington

Try http://bwnt.businessweek.com/bschools/undergraduate/07rankings/ for undergrad b-schools. Pay attention to the factors that are most important to you rather than the overall rankings.

I don't think that any of the above are reliable estimates of match/reach/safety since he hasn't posted his ECs or course workload or much else for that matter.

As for your original question, I'm assuming you want to apply to NYU Stern? Because unless you want to go into finance/marketing/international business, it's not the place for you. The school is heavily stacked towards Wall Street.

If you want entrepreneurship I'd suggest Babson, it's about 15 minutes out from Boston so you can visit whenever you want. BC and BU are decent for that too. Fordham isn't a bad choice either, but it seems to be too low an aim for you, so you might want to add it as a safety.
