I am going to be a junior next year and I'm taking 2 APs-APBio, and APUSH. I've also signed up for Honors Physics, but I'm considering changing that to AP Psych.

Reasoning:

AP Psych: I'm pretty interested in Psychology. The AP Psych teacher is amazing but he's retiring next year.

Honors Physics: I need to take Physics so I can take AP Physics senior year in order to do medical engineering, although I don't enjoy Physics quite as much.

I am also taking Study Hall and if it comes down to it I may just have to drop that to in order to take them both. What do you guys think? Should I keep Honors Physics or change it to AP Psych?

Yeah, take honors Physics if its relevant to your career plans - you can always self study Psych if you care about the college credit and I’m sure the Psych teacher at your school isn’t gonna provide his students with an experience you’re going to deeply regret not having.

Keep your study hall, AP Bio and APUSH typically have substantial workloads. I took three APs Junior year, and my study hall was a blessing.

Thanks for your suggestions. Yeah taking Physics is more beneficial in terms of my career planning. AP Bio has substantial workloads? I never worried about it much because everyone here on CC says its pure memorization and many actually self study for the class. In that case i would need Study Hall, because prior to that I was under the assumption hat Bio would be easy, so adding AP psych wouldn’t be a big deal.

At my school, AP Bio is a lot of note taking and lab composing - and yes, it is pure memorization, but I know a lot of schools facilitate that pure memorization through tedious note taking.

Oh god I hope my Bio class wouldn’t be compose of pure note-taking. I’ve had so many teachers that practically read the textbook to us during class and I’ve always wondered what the point is in that. I wonder if I should take AP Chem instead of AP Bio since it almost sounds like I can study Bio on my own since I can do most of the note-taking through reading textbook or watching lectures.

My AP bio class was actually pretty laissez-faire (ie: go read the textbook and come into class to talk about science-related topics and annotate notes… occasionally. Then take a test every two weeks-ish.) It’s a lot of reading, though. That should be taken into account!

As it turns out my school doesn’t require 1 year of Physics to take AP Physics so I think I’ll go with Psych and study Physics on my own. Thanks a lot for all of your advices!!

Drop the study hall, take both of the classes. Take study hall senior year

Colleges don’t weigh your senior classes much, but your junior year grades are important. Also, these classes will lead to a higher weighted GPA and a higher class rank, both important factors in a college decision

My AP Psych class was basically a study hall, i payed attention less than 20% of the time and still got high As and 5 on the final. Pretty confident on the ap exam.
take both

Dropping Study Hall is what I was initially considering since I was told APUSH, Bio, and Psych are some of the easiest APs so it wouldn’t be too challenging(please correct me if I’m wrong.

What do you guys think about adding AP Chem instead of H.Physics? My school doesnt do weighted GPA. Which one would college value more? Does AP Chem, APUSH, AP Bio and AP Psych sound doable to you without Study Hall?

Thank you so much for your replies everyone!!! :)

Well according Silverturtle’s guide and many other posts on here, APUSH is the easiest of all the history APs for it covers the smallest time period. Do you guys find that to be the case or not at all?

So far I only have one extremely challenging AP-AP Chem and I heard it’s going to be torture. I’m not sure about whether I wanna take Bio at the expense of losing Study Hall since many people self-study it anyways. Then again there’s really nothing else so yeah. How difficult was AP Chem for you?

I’ve heard that the workload for APUSH is up there. I’ve never taken it, though.

AP Chemistry had some hard parts, but overall it was very enjoyable. I struggled with one or two topics. 5 hours working them out on a Sunday ironed out my problems. AP Chemistry wasn’t torture for me. It was fun and I didn’t mind the topics.

I feel like I’d enjoy AP Chem. APUSH honestly doesn’t seem too hard. There’s so much review stuff for that class though online, which is strange since it seems excessive for a rather easy class. I’m guessing they’re mostly for cramming purposes?:D

I heard there’s a LOT of reading for APUSH. Anyone ever found that hard?
