<p>I'm an international student from Brazil and I sent an e-mail to Tufts explaining that I attend a small school that offers no extracurricular activities nor honors and they aswered: "All applicants are considered in context of the environment in which they are coming from. Particularly for our international applicants at smaller, local or national schools, we understand that the emphasis on extra curricular activities is not the same as it would be at an American or International School."</p>

<p>Do you think I should still apply? There's no such thing as GPA here in Brazil and my ACT is 32. I also need a great amount of financial aid (full ride) and I know they're need-aware for internationals. What do you think? Does the affirmative action work for international students?</p>

<p>What's the social life like? Are there any good clubs nearby? Would you label Tufts as conservative or liberal? Thanx!</p>

<p>If you think you’re a competitive applicant who’s being held down by differing standards between Brazil and the U.S. then you should apply. The admissions office does this professionally, all year long. They have a paid, full-time staff whose job it is to understand the contexts different applicants are coming from. No matter what kind of educational background you have, I promise you they can figure it out and evaluate you fairly.</p>

<p>Tufts is definitely very liberal. The club scene is not that great - we’re nerds. If you’re willing to head into Cambridge or Boston regularly (a 15 - 40 minute trip on public transit, depending on where you’re going) you can certainly find clubs, but don’t expect to see a ton of Tufts students there. That being said, there’s a lot going on socially in and around campus.</p>
