Will the colleges not look at my essay if it's over 500?</p>
<p>My essay is currently 533 words, and i'm worried ):</p>
<p>Definitely shorten it to 500 or less. Colleges will see it as an inability to follow directions if you submit more than 500 words.</p>
<p>Don’t worry! You are fine. No ad com is going to actually count your words.</p>
<p>Since the essay is uploaded, no one will care as long as you keep it within one page. Yale and Harvard I hear, instruct you to do what you want to and not allow the 500 word limit to interfere with proper expression of who you are. My essay is around 600 something words.</p>
