Help! My College List Needs Work

I don't think that seven colleges is enough so can you please give me some more schools to look at. Umm... the only preferences I have are good in science and in the north-east-ish area (not 100% necessary). I've already researched these schools and like them so if you know similar schools, that would also be good.

Reach:
Columbia
Cornell
Johns Hopkins

Match:
Carnegie Mellon
Lehigh
University of Virgina

Safety:
Maryland-College Park

Here are my stats and stuff:
About Me:

My plan is to major in Physics. There's a very good chance I might end up wanting to be a doctor...or some type of engineer, but im reluctant to commit to any career yet. So here are my stats. BTW, I live in Maryland, I am an over-represented minority, Male, not poor or rich (My parents saved up enough, so money's not a problem) and am a junior at a competitive public school.

Stats:

SAT: 2300 (760M, 740V, 800W(10E))
SAT II:
Chemistry: 800
Math 2c: 790
World History: 680
GPA: Unweighted 3.95/4.00 (Got a B in english this year)
Weighted: idk, more than unweighted...i took mostly G/T and AP classes.
Rank: top 10ish/435
AP: (10th grade) US gov and pol (5)
(11th grade) chem (5), calc ab (5), world history (4), and english language (4)
(12th grade) physics (both of the C ones), english literature, and calc bc
EC's: (Not great)
-National Honor Society (did my community service requirements for this)
-Maryland Technology Honor Society (didn't do much)
-Future Business Leaders of America (didn't do much)
-Piano (umm...yea)
-Tae kwon do (black belt, demo team)
-An internship at NASA last summer
-Will Volunteer a ton at a hospital this summer (like 132 hours)
-Enrolled in a tech-magnet program at my school where i go to an applications and research laboratory and have a 2-period class there (we built an electrathon vehicle, its like a battery-powered racer that we can drive around in); will do a different project next year, maybe a robot
Teacher Recs: Pretty average (i dont do anything class) not bad, but average
Essay: Will be okay, im not really great at writting, i only got an 800 on the SAT cuz i aced the MC
Other: Perfect attendence throughout high school, (that's all i can think of now)

Thanks, in advance for any help.

Well, I wouldn't call UVA a reach, even OOS. I think it's more a match for you.

All-right I moved it

Honestly, I think you have enough colleges. You don't really need to apply to more than 7...if anything, it might save you time and money if you figured which one of your reaches or matches you liked the least, and take it off your list.

But, if you really want a suggestion...perhaps the College of William and Mary? It's not urban, so you might not like it, but it's great in the sciences and you can get a truly stellar education there.

harvey mudd, in case you change your mind about wanting to be on the east coast.

and ucsd i think would be a match, if not a slight reach(because of your out of stateness)

yea, i like suggestions. I'm just getting ideas, that i will research in depth later so im sorry that i can't give you any feedback on your feedback even though i really appreciate it...Boy, i wish that made sense.

And the list i gave is not final; i may not apply to all of them.

wow, im from maryland too and looking at your stats i am reconsidering what i consider matches and reaches because we have similar grades, scores, and other stats and i think you have a better chance than your giving yourself at hopkins and cornell. also, maybe you want to look at a few more ivys, southeastern schools, or schools in DC because you never know what will happen in these college admissions and where you really want to go in the end

My chances at Cornell and Hopkins are <50% so i consider it a reach....I assume.

I think your three reaches is good, but maybe add MIT. You can add U Rochester and RPI to your matches. Cornell is really outstanding for physics, and it is Ivy League.

LACs like Bowdoin, Colgate, Middlebury, Wesleyan would all be good choices in the sciences (except engineering) and would imagine you should be able to get into all four of them. You might want to also consider Swarthmore, which while in the reach category, is a rare LAC that does offer engineering. Tufts is another that would be in the high match category.

um...what's an LAC?

LACs are liberal arts colleges
