I have 16 colleges on my current list, but I'm not sure how to make any more cuts. I am in the top 10% of my class with a 3.82 gpa. I got a 30 on my ACT. I want to major in nursing. Cost is not a problem as long as I can receive some financial aid, and I have no preference regarding the size of the college.

Here is my current list:
University of Michigan
University of Pittsburg
Case Western Reserve University
University of Kansas
University of Missouri
University of Cincinnati
Duquesne University
Kent State University
Ball State University
Missouri State University
Otterbein University
Ohio University
Eastern Michigan University
Indiana University of Pennsylvania
Grand Valley State University
University of Iowa

Any suggestions on how to narrow them down are greatly appreciated!

A lot of these are public universities, so you are going to be out of state for many of them. Most OOS universities do not provide any FA for OOS students (except for federal money), and that is nowhere near a sizable chunk of the cost. If your parents make a bit of money, then you will probably not receive any FA at all. I would go through each list and not count of any money other than federal aid (the Pell Grant, if you qualify) and loans, as well as any guarenteed merit aid. Make sure these schools are actually affordable.

If the OP qualifies for a Pell Grant then cost is a major factor.

OP, run the Net Price Calculator on each school’s web site to see how much you might get. I don’t see you getting anything at UMich if you’re OOS.

Remove everything except:
University of Michigan- Ann Arbor
University of Pittsburgh
Case Western

Add Iowa State instead of University of Iowa. It has low OOS tuition.
