I have 16 colleges on my current list, but I'm not sure how to make any more cuts. I am in the top 10% of my class with a 3.82 gpa. I got a 30 on my ACT. I want to major in nursing. Cost is not a problem as long as I can receive some financial aid, and I have no preference regarding the size of the college.

Here is my current list:
University of Michigan
University of Pittsburg
Case Western Reserve University
University of Kansas
University of Missouri
University of Cincinnati
Duquesne University
Kent State University
Ball State University
Missouri State University
Otterbein University
Ohio University
Eastern Michigan University
Indiana University of Pennsylvania
Grand Valley State University
University of Iowa

Any suggestions on how to narrow them down are greatly appreciated!

If you need financial aid, then cost is a problem! What the?? Have you compared COA for each of these and checked each to see if they give financial aid to OOS students? Is one of these local and a best rate for you?

If you need financial aid, you need to try the net price calculators on each of the schools to see if they are affordable.

A lot of public state universities can give you some substantial scholarships for your GPA and ACT. I know Mizzou has one for a 31/30 ACT and a 3.75 GPA or something, you may be qualified for that. I’d assume a lot of other state U’s would have the same as well.

Both Kansas and Missouri have great programs, but both are essentially still 2 year pre-nursing and then 2 year nursing programs - I know Mizzou has a deal where with your ACT you might get what amounts to guaranteed admittance to their nursing program as long as you maintain a decent GPA the first two years - You may want to check into schools that will do that sort of thing - Many nursing programs have no guarantees so you could spend two years one place and then not get admitted to their nursing program.
