Your SAT test scores are good (competitive) for Stanford, as is your top 2% standing in your exams. The drop from 95% to 80% will be a concern, but you are participating in quite a few things--maybe too much. If you think you can increase your verbal score to 700, retake the exam for this purpose--otherwise, don't bother with a retake.

The thing to focus on in your application is your leadership and specialty skill--which in your case is probably Economics, Math, and Model UN activities. Discuss your activities as not just a participant, but as an organizer or facilitator in getting others involved in things like HIV/AIDS awareness, world nonviolence day activity organizing, and interact service club work. Your ability to get in will largely be dependent upon how much you discuss these subjects--and upon your essay that reflects this and your other experiences.

Right now, your resume (as listed) sounds like you are half-participant, half-leader in these activities. Your job is to convince Stanford that you are all-leader--and that these causes are ones you really care about and need to continue to pursue even while at Stanford.

Good luck.

P.S. If you apply for Economics as a major, your odds will be less than if you apply for some other major (Engineering and Economics are the toughest majors to get into at Stanford, although as a girl you would have a better chance at engineering than the guys).

I think its the other way round.

Your SAT's could be bumped up, and I think they let you down most.

Your EC's are splendid

Well, we're all entitled to our opinions--but I couldn't disagree more with Mercutio.

I don't see how lots of ECs that say: member, club X; member, club Y;--will get anyone into Stanford.

Funny that Mercutio should say this, since I've seen his ECs (it's on another thread) and all of his ECs are activity related, (for example, writing two screenplays, writing for a rock and roll magazine, and living overseas in Slovakia)--and almost none are "member-related".

A vb of 650 isn't doing any favours.

Stanford are gonna want all 700+ at least.

I won't respond about me, cus that would just be threadjacking. go say that on my thread.

I think this person could make up the SAT's and that would do more favours tyhan adding some activity based EC's.

they already show great leadership and team work.

uhh well the thing is i am applying for restrictive early action, and so i dont have time to take the test again, although i am working hard on the recommendations and all.
i know its probably a very long shot, but I am giving my 100% to the application process.
Being the head girl of the school i hardly get time to even sit in class, let alone sit and study for hours on end.
But do you think, that with these kind of marks, there should be possibility or should i just forget about it?i understand stanford gets like gazillion applictions everyday and looking at my scores i am not that convinced..
thanks for the inputs anyways:)

well its not like that actually tht isnt how i am goint to present my SOP and essay etc..i will obviously be elaborating on these activities and highlighting my leadership skills etc...this is just to get a general feedbck whether by academics and ECA are worth considering there.

and plus i am an international student so they do consider many other things as well i hope..

I think you have a good chance.

It wasn't a good idea to take the SAT Math I and Math II. They are largely redundant and won't give you a chance to show off your talent fully.

well i am giving the physics and chemistry sat 2 exams in november...actually going in for economics i was told by pretty much everyone that math is pretty much compulsory..

ooh and also i wanted to know how much should be the avergae length of my SOP? its coming out to be around 1400 words right now...is that too mch?

Do you need financial aid?

no...no aid..
