Help? Not the best grades....

As of now, I am going into my senior year of high school with a GPA of 2.4.
I've got my eye on a few SUNY schools; Hobart and William Smith, SUNY Oswego, etc. and most are 3.1/3.3 average accepted GPA. I have an intense passion for Zoology and I hope to pursue it.
What are my chances of getting into a decent school?
Should attend community college?
:(

Go to community college, study hard, do well, then transfer into a good four-year college.

Talk to your guidance counselor to see if students from your school with similar stats are accepted into the schools you are interested in. You can also contact the admissions dept of the schools and talk to them about your chance of acceptance.

not many people do zoology, so i think u can get in to the college u wanted with that gpa

Apply to schools, maybe 2nd tier schools (which are still great just less prestigious). Apply to schools like Mesa State, Western State, (those are in CO).

Try Hartwick College in NY.

what are your career plans with Zoology?

Attending a community college can be a great idea especially if that is right for your budget.

However, if you can afford to go elsewhere , there are some schools that will accept you. What is your budget?

I don’t see you getting accepted to many 4 year schools with a 2.4. Community College would appear to be the appropriate route for you. I’ve seen numerous students accepted to schools after two years of CC that they never could have gotten into right out of high school.

^^^

Depends on his budget.

There are some 3rd/4th tier privates that will accept anyone with a 2.0+ and will pay full freight. There are also some publics that will also accept.

Much will depend on the student’s budget and his SAT/ACT scores too.

If his parents won’t pay much, then he probably has no choice but to go to a community colleges since his stats won’t get him admitted to a school that can give good aid.

Sam…what are your test scores? And how much will your family pay?

I agree with m2ck. I know of some state schools that will accept students with a 2.0 and even more if the OP can raise the GPA to 2.5 / 2.6
