I’m currently an undergrad pursuing a degree in Psychology and am interested in a future in biostatistics. Any hints on classes I should take to prepare myself? I am currently a junior at the University of Washington and am in the middle of my statistics requirements and like it a lot, but I feel under prepared to seriously look into a program in biostatistics. What helped you as an undergraduate to pursue this field? Any other help would be appreciated.

UW has a great Biostatistics department. You should look on their website for full details on what you need to qualify for their grad program.

Basically, they’re looking for an undergraduate degree that is very math heavy. You could probably get away with Psychology as long as you take a significant amount of stats/math classes as electives. I know Psych and Stats are often paired together as a Major/Minor, as Stats is used heavily in Psychological research.

I know the minimum you need for the UW Biostatistics program is Calc 1-3 (through Multivariate Calculus), as well as some Mathematical Statistics classes (probability theory).

am working as a Research Assistant (Bio-statistics) in Indian Council of Medical
Research have done my Masters in Statistics (M. Sc.) and having 24 years of
Research Experience in field of Biostatistics. I have also contributed in research
publications for more then 10 publications.

I wish to join a Ph D programme in Biostatistics.

Pl my following queries

With my experience in Research Field may I be exempted to appear for GRE and
TOFEL.

Your GPA and grades in math classes are more important than GRE scores. I had trouble finding official rankings too, but people recommended Johns Hopkins, Harvard, Georgetown, Brown, and BU since I wanted to stay on the east coast.

Hello, I am planning on applying to University of Louisville Biostatistics MS for Fall 2014. Can you talk a little bit about your experience as well as what are they really looking at in applicants? I am an international student from Turkey. Were there any international students in the department during your time of study? and lastly, do you know what is the acceptance statistics?
